Position Summary:  The Senior Test Architect will be responsible for developing and adapting satellite test architecture. It includes architecture of test scripts and related actions and functions of scripts with respect to a "hardware in the loop" test bed. Manages interaction of satellite check out system with external sensors and Electrical Ground Support Equipment.


Primary Responsibilities:

  1. 65%
  • Creates scripts for new units which are compatible with existing test bed and associated architecture
  • Configuration control of test architecture (libraries, actions, functions, scripts)
  • Collaborates with affiliates using similar architecture to ensure compatibility as needed, including production and development
  • Maintains scripts for existing test beds
  • Collaborate on Software in the Loop and Hardware In the Loop projects which may draw from similar architectures
  • Understands and supports networking of EGSE with satellite command and control system as well as impacts on test scripts
  • Debug tests
  • Conducts detailed troubleshooting of tests, including debugging scripts. Works with hardware designers to understand implications of hardware behavior and correct tolerancing in scripts.
  •  Ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of engineering and integration activities.
  1. 25%
  • Support the evolution of the ARROW product development roadmap: includes design and testing adjustments, schedule, and cost targets aligned with future business capture strategies.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 



Required: Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas or combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas or combination of education and experience.



  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 8 years of experience with a Master's degree in the satellite I&T engineering and/or related domains
  • Prefer experience with satellite command and control systems, satellite central check-out systems
  • Experience with Terma CCS is a plus
  • Satellite test experience
  • Experience working with satellite systems, starting from conceptual designs and tradeoffs through detailed design, development, manufacture, integration, test, launch, and early orbit operations.
  • Exposure to programmable logic controllers and supervisory system (SCADA)

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Proficiency with programming, preferably in TCL
  • Knowledge of "hardware in the loop" and "software in the loop" test beds
  • Knowledge of satellite command and data handling, telemetry and telecommand
  • Proficiency with various Integration &Test engineering tools and processes
  • Controls engineering knowledge, comfortable with block diagrams
  • Familiarity with elements of space mission architectures extending beyond the satellite platform including launch, flight operations, mission CONOPS, user interfaces, etc.
  • Communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner across multiple levels.
  • Be team-minded and ready to work in a multi-functional and multi-cultural, fast-moving and complex/technical environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Flexible attitude and strong initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results.

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Excellent listening, comprehension & interpersonal skills as responsible for daily communication via email and phone calls required.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication (verbal/writing), and presentation skills.


  • If FL based, infrequent travel to DC area to coordinate with VA-based team and present to various customers and mission partners
  • Infrequent international travel to collaborate with European Airbus counterparts
  • Possibility for on-site support during launch campaigns


  • US citizenship is required


  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
  • Active DoD security clearance at Secret or above highly desirable.
