Position Summary: The Sr Engineer is responsible for providing support to the Airbus KC-Y Team for the systems engineering activity related to communications, defensive systems, and mission systems. Will provide guidance with regards to US government and US Prime requirements.


Position Responsibilities:


Pre-proposal phase:

  • Support the KC-Y campaign working with the LMXT Engineering Integrated Product Teams of Airbus and US partner during the proposal phase.
  • Provide guidance to the Airbus Team regarding DoD requirements related to KC-Y program, technical discussions with LM and the Customer, including the preparation of the proposal, technical reviews and test activities.
  • Support the evaluation of technical risk in systems engineering to ensure the success of the campaign and the transition to the program execution.
  • Ensure integrity of the information from Airbus through the proposal phase.

Proposal and Post-award phases:

  • Review and advice on customer requirements, the draft-RFP and subsequent RFP requirements.
  • Support Airbus technical writers during the proposal.
  • Support transition from proposal to program execution in the domain of systems engineering.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • This position is not intended to be all-inclusive and the employee will also perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering

Experience:

  • Required:
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in aircraft systems engineering including major DoD integration aircraft programs, in the areas of Military Avionics (Communication, Navigation Identification) - Experience in the development, certification and qualification of advanced comms, nav and ident Systems
  • Experience working on USAF Advance Battle Management System (ABMS) and Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2).
  • Experience with Systems Engineering tools and processes. Use of Model Based Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering in programs with USAF
  • Air to Air Refueling - Tanker Side - Experience in the development, certification, qualification and operational use of Boom Systems.
  • Past performance in classified programs with the US Government.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in Commercial Derivative programs with the FAA/Military Certification Office and the USAF.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Knowledge of compliance with export control regulations (ITAR, EAR).
  • An integrity driven professional who will ensure all work is of a quality that is expected from an Airbus OEM.
  • Must be able to interact cordially and productively with subordinates, co-workers supervisors, and customers.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and presentation skills required. Must present clear and concise briefings and reports to customers and executives.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • MS Office Suite

Travel Required:

  • 25-50% domestic and international travel.
  • Flexibility to adapt to regular travel to Europe and domestically to different sites.

Eligibility: US Citizenship


Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance required

  • Highly organized individual able to work with no supervision and have a strong record of consistent success exercising sound judgment and independence.

Nature of Contacts:

  • Role includes involved, influence and negotiation type communication with internal and external parties on a regular basis.
