Position Summary:

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, Inc. (Airbus U.S.) is looking for an experienced Business Development Campaign Manager for its U.S. space line of business. The successful candidate would be joining a top performing team and should possess strong business acumen and desire to be forward leaning in identifying and pursuing new opportunities. The primary purpose of this position is to identify, qualify, and support the capture of new business opportunities. In addition, this individual will execute Airbus U.S. strategies to achieve maximum market penetration and growth. The position reports to the Director of Space Strategy and New Business and works collaboratively with the space engineering and program teams, as well as other business development leads across the company. This position could require up to 35% domestic and/or international travel per year and is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans for the pursuit and successful capture of key opportunities.
  • Work autonomously to influence and partner with internal and external stakeholders, while executing proposal and capture efforts.
  • Understand Airbus U.S. space portfolio and work with technical experts to identify solutions which will meet customers' needs and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relations with customers. Ensure continuing customer relations and an effective flow of information to deliver business objectives.
  • Coordinate and conduct all aspects of business development capture management following all required processes and preparing products for the capture of assigned pursuits.
  • Support the Line of Business Leadership in establishing a realistic capture pipeline; provide timely and accurate campaign status supporting forecasting of new orders.
  • Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to targeted pursuits and market segments
  • Support the development of market objectives, strategies, goals, and plans for assigned customers and market segments

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Space-related scientific areas; business or policy degree with demonstrated background in space field is acceptable.


  • A minimum of eight (8) years' campaign management experience required in the space, defense, or intelligence sectors.
  • Working knowledge of or experience supporting business development programs with U.S. Government and/or space industry customers focused on opportunity development and program capture
  • Experience leading collaborative cross-functional teams in successful execution of campaign capture plans
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Government contracting, contract types, procurement, and budgeting processes
  • Demonstrated skills in gathering data from multiple, often disparate, sources and synthesizing into meaningful reports and presentations
  • Proven record of success managing campaign activities within the DoD & IC community
  • Proven "Voice of the Customer" and relationship management skills.
  • Familiarity with online tools used by the Federal Government for solicitations

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards
  • Experienced in the Shipley Capture Management process or similar experience/training
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Excellent listening, comprehension & interpersonal skills as responsible for daily communication via email and phone calls required
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication (verbal/writing), and presentation skills. Must be able to present clear and concise reports to customers and executives.
  • Foreign language skills are desirable. Specifically, French or German.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Excellent PC skills, specifically Office 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Costpoint, Deltek systems a plus

Travel Required:

  • 35% Domestic and International


  • US Citizenship


  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level required
  • Active DoD security clearance preferred

  • Evaluate and provide campaign status and market updates
  • Conduct competitive analysis that relates directly to product offerings and campaign objectives

  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
