Position Summary:

The Engineering Intern position supports a variety of Software Engineering tasks and projects to meet customer and technical requirements. Airbus U.S.'s Software Engineering team develops flight software for our satellites and creates in-house modeling and simulation tools to support design and analysis activities and the Engineering Intern will contribute to these projects. They will work with stakeholders to identify new features and capabilities that the team needs and lead the development of those features. Preferred locations: Arlington VA, Denver CO or Merritt Island, FL.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Day-to-day activities
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify their software needs.
  • Write software to fill those needs.
  • Participate in code reviews.
  • Responsible to communicate regularly and report to the Software Engineering Manager on work in process and the status of assigned projects.
  • Will participate in Airbus U.S. team meetings.
  • May assist in development of spreadsheets and reports.
  • Research new projects and ideas as directed.
  • Perform support with special projects to meet deadlines as required.

Qualified / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in or having received an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university majoring in science, technology, engineering or related field.
  • Possess an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required:

  • Proficiency in at least one general purpose programming language (e.g. C/C++, Rust, or Python).
  • Demonstrate high level of accuracy of work.
  • Must be dependable with attendance and follow instructions and directions accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and plan work activities.
  • Exhibit flexible attitude and approach to assignments.

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite

Travel Required:

  • 0% Domestic

Citizenship:

  • U.S. Citizenship

Nature of Contacts:

Moderate Communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties.
